WHAT IS A “TRUST FUND PUPPY”?
A friendly, much-loved dog who’s learned that access just… happens—doors open, guests pet, toys fly, walks proceed, couches include—without first offering a tiny bit of “please.” Benefits on tap; responsibilities, not so much. Zero-blame lens: your Doodle isn’t misbehaving—they’re following the pattern we accidentally taught.
THE 10 RED FLAGS (SELF-CHECK)
- Greets first; never checks in
- Threshold turbo at doors
- Walks = you’re the passenger
- Ball/tug resumes after jump-bark-spin
- Couch/bed is self-serve
- Food bowl lands while whining/pawing
- “He knows it”—but only when he feels like it
- Guests get love-bombed while you apologize
- Pushback (whine/paw) works—you cave
- Empty hands = low voice value
KEEP IN MIND
• Feeling called out by #1 or #8 = good data, not shame
• Friendly can still be unsafe (door dashing, automatic greetings)
• You didn’t fail—you reinforced enthusiasm without guardrails
WHY DOODLES DRIFT HERE
Bright + bouncy + people-loving = lightning-fast “access happens” learning; we reward charisma because it’s adorable; adolescence hardens patterns.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
There’s one simple, kind lever that flips “does what he wants” into “checks in first.” We’ll put it in your hand—and practice it—inside the Challenge.

[00:00:00] Is life with your doodle more chaotic than calm. Today we're decoding the trust fund puppy. Why smart social doodles drift there and how to tell if your doodles did too? We'll map the pattern now. We'll install the solution together inside my once a year Doodle Parent Challenge Motivation edition, kicking off Monday, September 30th.
Oh, and it's completely on the house. Tell me if this sounds familiar. You adore your doodle same, and you've showered them with the good life, walks, toys, couch, snuggles, all the hellos because. Have you seen that face? Somewhere along the [00:01:00] way, your sweetheart got an all access wristband to life, VIP entry to people, places, and perks without having to show a tiny bit of please at the door.
That's what I mean by trust fund puppy benefits. On tap responsibilities, not so much. Did you accidentally raise a little nepo dog? A lovable one with great hair? It happens, especially with doodles credit where it's due. This framing comes from the trainer, author Suzanne Cloer and her relationship centered training.
In this lens, a trust fund puppy isn't stubborn or dominant. It's a dog who's learned very logically that access just [00:02:00] happens Doors open guest pet toys, fly walks, proceed. Couches include your doodle is not misbehaving. They're following the pattern. We accidentally taught key distinctions
it's not bad dog. It's clear patterns, meeting big feelings. It thrives in generous homes where enthusiasm gets rewarded as is. Doodles are. Built for this fast brain social magnets, Olympic level optimism.
See if any of these apply to your doodle one. They greet first. Check with you, never two. Threshold turbo excitement spikes as the door opens. Three Walks equal. You are a passenger to their [00:03:00] itinerary. Four ball or tug resumes even after that. Jump bark, spin five. The couch and bed are just self-serve. 24 7.
Six food bowl lands when there's whining or pawing seven. He knows it, but mainly when he feels like it. Eight guess. Get love bombed. Well, you apologize. Nine. Push back like a wine or a paw works. You cave to keep the peace. 10. If you're empty handed, uh, your voice has low value.
If you feel called out by number one or eight, that's good data. Not shame friendly can still be unsafe, though door dashing and [00:04:00] automatic greetings. Put your dog at risk. You have not failed. You just reinforced enthusiasm without guardrails. We fixed that in the challenge.
Not ready to jump in yet. Grab my two minute trust fund puppy quiz. It's in the show notes or@thedoodlepro.com
slash trust fund puppy to see more about where your doodle lands. Then come do the fix with me inside the challenge. Now let's dig in a little more on how this phenomenon can snowball with doodles.
They're a neuro combo. They're bright and bouncy and people loving and that means fast learning of access happens. The human side. We reward charisma. Hello Zoomies. Big eyes 'cause it's cute [00:05:00] and we are nice adolescents. Amplifier. The exact season when patterns harden. Is when emotions go plaid. Here's what it costs if you let it ride first.
Safety door bolts. Street darts, risky greetings, relationships. You talk more, get less listening back. Resentment creeps in and skills without micro obligations listening. Muscles begin to atrophy.
There is one lever that flips this dynamic from does what he wants to checks in first. It's simple, kind. Very doodle friendly. We'll put that lever in your hand and practice it in my free Doodle Parent Challenge Motivation edition. [00:06:00] The challenge is back after two years in the vault refreshed for motivation and real life momentum.
We start Monday, September 30th. Doors to the community are already open. And because it lands on my birthday, I am gifting more than $500 in prizes. It's complimentary, it's fun, and it's built for our big feelings. Bright brain doodles.
